Kate is a Maine artist and representational oil painter, with a modern and soulful artistic sensibility. She believes great design is useful, simplistic and playful. While upholding craftsmanship of traditional oil paint and textures, she approaches contemporary themes and modern subject matter. She transforms color fields, patterns and shapes, into unique and tasteful representational composition. Kate has worked as an art educator, internationally and locally, and has served as an advocate for arts education. She serves on the board of the Wyland Foundation, published articles in Arts and Activities magazine and has extensive experience in art education curriculum writing. Kate is currently pursuing her MFA in figurative representational oil painting from Laguna College of Art and Design. She has a passion for the outdoors and travel, and is happiest spending time at the beach and adventuring with her family.
